Culture as your favorite pair of jeans

Do we ever wonder how we just love our old, torn, rugged pair of jeans? Even though the world may despise it or even ridicule it, we are never ready to let it go.

Why?

Because it FITS. We are comfortable and see no motivation to move on. This also essentially defines the essence of organizational culture.

Organization culture may seem like anything to the world but because it FITS in so well, and because it takes its people where they want to go and in the way they want to, it serves them great.

But like a human body is susceptible to change, so is the environment, and the organization's culture. It may have served us well, but now if it has begun to become irrelevant and its time to move ahead, then, like a pair of jeans we may alter it, modify it or get a new one altogether.

Our organization culture may be the perfect one for us today even if it is highly unconventional or not conforming to the prevailing norms of the industry but with changing elements - internal and/or external, this too evolves to something new.

Does your pair of jeans fit you well? Or do they need a change, may be minor? Or may be its time to get a new pair.

Think about it

Crunch at the middle

"There is a severe crunch of experienced professionals at the middle management level. Top management across sectors is feeling the lack of adequate managerial capability along with relevant experience, at the middle level. This level is critical to every organization as it forms the vital link between strategic management as well the “footsoldiers”. This is also the level which needs to be groomed for taking up top management positions in future. In this scenario, succession planning has taking an even larger role."

Where are the Civil Engineers!

"The market for Civil Engineers has never been so hot before. The rapid housing boom as well as the commonwealth games have only added to the demand. Experience of civil engineering coupled with management is proving to be the platinum qualification in the industry today."

Recession - An opportunity???

"The world around has been blaming the slowdown for the pain it has caused in personal and professional lives. But has it been all negative? Are there no opportunities available at all? It has been observed worldwide that organizations have been milking this as an opportunity to weed away the superfluous and retain the best strategies, products, processes, talents etc. Monetarily the associated factors seem to have been taking a blow, but this realignment has, in a way, put order to ensure that only the best survives which is strategically impressive, taking a balanced perspective. Interestingly no doubt, the demand for consulting for seeking solutions to such issues, has gained even more significance from the corporate world."
